At MCHHS, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Below outlines essential information so you can be prepared for your visit.

Facility Access Hours

Main Entrance (Front Doors):

  • Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

After-Hours Access:
 If you arrive outside of these hours and need urgent medical care:

  • Use the Emergency Department entrance on the west side of the hospital
  • Or use the intercom system at the main doors for assistance

Visitation Guidelines

We understand the vital role visitors play in healing and recovery. To maintain a secure and comfortable environment, the following policies are in effect:

Acute Inpatient Visitation:

  • Visiting Hours: Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • All visitors must enter through the main front entrance
  • Please do not use the ER entrance for routine visits

Visitor Limits by Unit:

  • Emergency Department (ER): Up to 2 visitors per patient
  • Acute Inpatients: Up to 5 visitors at a time (ages 6 and older)
  • Obstetrics (OB) Unit: One designated support person during the patient’s stay, plus additional visitors. Siblings may visit when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian

Resident Care Center Visitation:
 Visitation policies may differ. Please call 785-738-9590 for the latest guidelines.

Patient Registration & Admissions

All patients receiving outpatient services or being admitted must check in at the Patient Registration Desk, located in the front lobby.

Services Requiring Registration:

  • Lab
  • Imaging (X-ray)
  • Surgical Procedures
  • Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy
  • Acute Hospital Admissions

What to Bring:

  • Valid photo ID
  • Current insurance cards
  • Any relevant documents or accident information (date, time, contact persons, etc.)

Pre-Admission Process:
You may be contacted prior to your appointment to complete pre-admission steps, saving time on the day of your visit. Obstetrics patients should pre-admit 3–4 weeks before their expected delivery date.

Need Assistance?
 Our team is available to provide wheelchair support and answer any questions.

Registration Hours:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

After Hours, Weekends, and Holidays: Check in at the Emergency Room Registration Desk (West Entrance), open 24/7

Infection Prevention Protocols

To protect everyone in our care, MCHHS follows current public health recommendations and clearly posts entrance signage to indicate the masking policy:

  • Red Status: Masks are required for all individuals. Masks are available at the front desk.
  • Green Status: Masks are not required, unless you have respiratory symptoms

Please do not visit if you are feeling ill or experiencing cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms.
